Student Support Services
HEALTH SERVICES
St. Patrick's School health office is staffed by a full time Registered Professional nurse through the Bedford Central School District. Medication (prescription and non-prescription) is administered only with a doctor's written order and signed parental permission. Routine screenings for vision, hearing and scoliosis are conducted annually in grades mandated by the State of New York. Each student entering St. Patrick's is required to have an up to date record of immunizations and a physical exam prior to entry. In addition, physical exams are required in grades PK, K, 2, 4, 7. It is important that the nurse be informed of any health issues affecting your child in order to provide the safest care possible. A health questionnaire and emergency card are provided to parents each school year and should be updated and returned by the first week of school. The school nurse is also available for staff development and for parent workshops.

FOOD SERVICES
Students are given the choice of either bringing a bag lunch each day or purchasing lunch which is prepared by a Food Service. A lunch menu is distributed each month and tickets used for purchasing lunch are sold through the office and through the cafeteria staff.

REMEDIAL
Students who test below the state standards are involved in an AIS program and a plan is developed in conjunction with the principal, teacher and parents. Those students with special needs are referred to and evaluated by the local public school district. They either have intervention at St. Patrick's with our Resource Teacher, or go to their public elementary school on a pull out basis for services.

TRANSPORTATION
Transportation is provided through the individual district to each New York State resident who lives within 15 miles of St. Patrick's School. Children outside of that radius, or those from Connecticut must rely on their parents for transportation. Students are not allowed to cross district lines to travel home with friends for play dates. Parents must contact the district for the appropriate forms for enrollment in transportation services.

AFTER SCHOOL CARE
After school care is available on site at St. Patrick's School.

BAND
Band lessons are provided after school through Paul Effman and Associates. A nominal fee is charged for lessons and children range in age from third to eighth grade.

EXTRACURRICULAR ACTIVITIES
As well as CYO Basketball and CYL Volleyball, there are many activities after our school day ends. There are Girl Scouts, Brownies and Daisies. At various times parents offer their gifts and talents in teaching crafts, talents or hobbies to our children. We hold a successful Career Day each year and the children get to meet and speak with people from all walks of life, from service oriented professions to basketball coaches and TV personalities. We hold an annual Science Fair, Math Family Night, Art Fair, have had a student run newspaper. There is also a Talent Show! We have an annual yearbook and a bimonthly newsletter that is published by the principal's office.
